Compara – Privacy Policy
Effective date: 10 May 2025
1. Introduction
Compara ("we", "our", "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Compara mobile and web applications (collectively, the "App"), why we collect it, and how we store, use and disclose it. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Voluntarily
We do not require you to create an account or provide personally identifiable information ("PII") to use the core features of the App. If you choose to contact us (e.g., by email or through an in‑app feedback form), we will receive the information you voluntarily submit, such as your name, email address and the content of your message.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect certain non‑identifying, aggregated data, including:
- Device and App Information – device model, operating‑system version, language, screen size, App version, and crash logs.
- Usage Data – screens visited, taps, scroll depth, time spent, and feature interactions.
- Approximate Location – coarse geographic region inferred from IP address (country or region level only), not precise GPS data.
We collect this information through first‑party analytics frameworks and industry‑standard software‑development kits (SDKs).
2.3 Aggregated and Anonymised Data
We may aggregate or anonymise the information described above so it can no longer reasonably be linked to a specific individual. We may use and share such data for any lawful purpose, including product analytics and business intelligence.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain and improve the App and its features.
- Diagnose technical issues, perform debugging and prevent fraud.
- Analyse usage patterns to inform product‑design decisions.
- Communicate with you when you contact us, including responding to support requests.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
If you reside in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing your information are:
- Legitimate Interests – to improve and secure the App.
- Consent – where required for optional features or communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal Obligation – to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share information:
- Service Providers – with trusted vendors who process data on our behalf (e.g., analytics, cloud hosting), under data‑processing agreements.
- Legal Requirements – if required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process.
- Business Transfers – in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. You will be notified (by email or prominent notice) before personal data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The web version of the App may use cookies or local storage to remember preferences and gather usage statistics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not function properly.
7. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed on servers located outside your jurisdiction. We implement safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect data transferred from the EEA/UK or other regions with data‑transfer restrictions.
8. Data Retention
We retain collected data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Aggregated, anonymised data may be retained indefinitely.
9. Security
We employ reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect information under our control from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100 % secure; therefore we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- Access and receive a copy of personal data we hold about you;
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- Erase personal data ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to processing;
- Port personal data to another controller;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@compara.app.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from, children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will delete it without delay.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted in the App and, where appropriate, notified to you. The "Effective date" above indicates when this Policy was last revised. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
